Benefits of Land Surveying
With a large piece of property, you may not know where exactly the boundaries lie. A land survey can help
you avoid border disputes with your neighbors, as the surveyor can firmly establish a boundary. In addition,
a land survey can reveal the following about your property:
- The location of ponds, creeks, wells, and other surface water
- The presence of easements or old agreements allowing another person to cross or use your property
- The legality of past and future improvements to the property
- The location of water and gas pipes and telephone, electricity, and cable lines
- The zoning classification
If you're planning on building new edifices or operating a business on the property, you need to find out
from the land surveyor what laws apply to that piece of land.
